Collier Swecker video blogs about how homebuyers can really narrow their home search by search for homes that are zoned for a particular school, whether it be a high school for a broader search or by an elementary school for a more narrow search. Often times searching by “City” or “Area” is going to produce results that you will have to wade through to get to homes that are in a narrow part of town that you are looking because the “City” or “Area” is fairly large. For instance, I find that a good number of our clients want to live in the North Shelby County area of Birmingham. If they search for all homes that meet their criteria (i.e. price, bedrooms etc.) in North Shelby County, it will produce results for homes that are zoned for 3 different high schools, Chelsea, Oak Mountain and Spain Park. Most home buyers have a preference and their home search is much more effective by search with their basic criteria, not putting a city or area, and just marking the high school or elementary school for the area that you are looking. Even if you could care less about the local schools, use this search method to merely narrow your search results.
